Mini Biography
Known for tough-chick roles, Michelle Rodriguez is proof that there is a cross between beauty and brawn. Born in Bexar County, Texas on July 12, 1978, Michelle always knew she was destined to become a star, she just didn't know how to get there. Michelle lived in Texas until the age of 8 when her family moved to the Dominican Republic where she lived for two years before moving to Puerto Rico. At 11, Michelle's family relocated for the last time to Jersey City, New Jersey. Although she has been working since 1999 as an extra in such films as Summer of Sam (1999) and Cradle Will Rock (1999), it only took a magazine ad announcing an open casting call in New York for Michelle to decide to finally step into the spotlight. The role was the female lead, the movie was Girlfight (2000). Despite the lack of experience in film and boxing, Michelle auditioned, along with another 350 girls. After various trials inside an actual boxing ring and five arduous months of training in Brooklyn's Gleason's Gym, she was finally chosen to portray the role of Diana Guzman. As soon as the independent film began making the rounds at various film festivals, Michelle began gaining critical acclaim for her performance earning her awards like the Deaxville Festival of American Cinema award for Best Actress and the Las Vegas Film Critics Society for Female Breakthrough Performance. As Girlfight (2000) continued to gain notoriety with its September 2000 release, Michelle was already hard at work with films like 3 A.M. (2001), the blockbuster hit The Fast and the Furious (2001), and Resident Evil (2002). With Hollywood calling her name, the future for this feisty Jersey girl is as strong as the punches she throws.

Personal Quotes
I think empathy is a beautiful thing. I think that's the power of film though. We have one of the most powerful, one of the greatest communicative tools known to man. It's a form of communication and it's gonna reach you in a way of growth- most of the time.
I don't want people thinking of me sexually. I don't want people to be like, 'She's hot-looking,' you know? I want them to listen to me for what I am saying. And I think the best way to do that is to sniff my armpits, and like, sit and burp every now and then. It just completely throws people off. I had a couple of offers to do some hot scenes in the shower with some guy and to make it real hot and sexy. The next thing you know, I'd be the next J.Lo or something. But that's easy. I want [success] the hard way.
My favorite part of my body is my brain. I think no matter what my body looks like I wont be satisfied unless I know how to use it.
I don't think it's narcissistic at all to love yourself and believe in yourself. I think some people are really scared to do that. I have to. If I don't, I would not succeed in what I do.
No matter what, people are so narrow minded that it won't ever be Michelle Rodriguez the actress, it will always be Michelle Rodriguez the Latin actress. And it's just something that I have to live with, because of the fact that people need labels to understand things. I can't even get into this ignorance that I'm dealing with. So I just ignore it, you know? Ignore the ignorance.
[on why she always plays the "tough girl"]: Well, could you really imagine me playing the girlfriend that needs rescuing? Or the girlfriend?

Ian Somerhalder

8 December 1978, Covington, Louisiana, USA
Birth Name
Ian Joseph Somerhalder
Height

Mini Biography
The son of a massage therapist and a building contractor, Somerhalder was born and raised in the small southern town of Covington, LA. Boating, swimming, fishing and training horses filled much of his recreational time growing up, as did the school drama club and performing with the local theater group. With his mother's encouragement, at age 10 he began a modeling career that took him to New York each summer. By junior high, he opted to put modeling on the back burner and focus more on sports and school. A few years later, when the opportunity to model in Europe arose, Somerhalder grabbed it, embarking on an enriching path of work, travel and study that took him to cities including Paris, Milan and London. At 17, he began studying acting in New York, and by 19 had committed himself to the craft, working with preeminent acting coach William Esper. His fate was sealed while working as an extra in a club scene in the feature film _Black & White(1999)_. A talent manager visiting a client on the set spotted Somerhalder in a crowd scene of 400 and immediately signed him for representation. Happy to be anchored in New York, Somerhalder spends much of his time studying acting, writing and practicing yoga. His recreational interests include water and snow skiing and horseback riding.

Biography for
Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje
Date of Birth
22 August 1967, Islington, London, England, UK
Birth Name
Adewale Rotimi O. C. E. Akinnuoye Agbaje
Nickname
Triple A
Wally
Height
6' 2" (1.88 m)
Mini Biography
Born and raised in London, England, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje began his career as a model in Milan before moving to Los Angeles to make the transition to acting. Fluent in several languages, including English, Italian, Yoruba and Swahili, he is best known for his roles in the movies Congo (1995) and The Mummy Returns (2001), and the HBO series "Oz" (1997).
Trivia
Has a masters in Law from the University of London, but took a different career path when bitten by the acting bug.
Is perhaps best known for his role as the cunning, fierce super-criminal Adebisi on "Oz" (1997).
He went from playing Ernie Hudson's good friend, the guide "Kahega" to Hudson's "Capt. Munro" in Congo (1995), to playing his enemy, the sociopath "Adebisi" to Hudson's hard-headed "Warden Glynn" in "Oz" (1997).
He has Nigerians parents
Born on the same day as the Alice in Chains singer Layne Staley.
The son of immigrants from Nigeria, he has played almost entirely African characters despite having been born and raised in England. He usually employs a deep, Nigerian timber while acting, while off-screen he has a very British, somewhat Cockney accent.
He is fluent in several languages including Italian, Yoruba, Swahili, and (of course) English. He can "get along" in a few other languages, including French.
He is a Buddhist and admitted that he had to chant more than usual while playing the brutal character of "Majestic" in Get Rich or Die Tryin' (2005).
Personal Quotes
"I've never been really great at trusting anybody, just because of the way I grew up. I was always led to believe you should take care of yourself, trust in your abilities and you're the author of your own destiny. Coming to this show is the opposite." - talking about "Lost"
"The only way you can influence your fate is to put your soul into your performance and hope it registers with the audience."
"I kind of feel for the people on the show who are just coming into the business and this is their first gig. They've got a big letdown coming." - on his younger cast mates on "Lost"
"They gave me a stick and said, 'Knock those three guys out.' There's no better way to make an entrance." - when asked if he was made to feel like the "new kid on the block" when joining Lost
"When a star character on a hit show chooses to leave there's always speculation as to whether or not they've done this or that or not gotten along with this or that person. Straight up: it was probably one of the best relationships I've ever had in terms of developing a character, and I think the character will be a testament to that." -on working on "Lost" (2004)
"The only way I know how to deliver is to focus; some people can turn it on or off - I'd rather stay in character. There was no socializing. I would start two hours before I went to the set and I wouldn't say any other words other than the ones that I needed to say, that's just the way I work and I think that intensity comes across in my characters." -on his "method acting" style, which has sometimes allegedly caused resentment on sets

Graduate of Drake University, where he earned a degree in Theater Arts.
Worked as a freelance illustrator for publications like The Boston Globe and The New York Times.
On "Lost" (2004), he played Ben Linus, the son of Roger Linus, played by Jon Gries, who is actually 3 years the junior of Emerson. The age difference is explicable because Roger is first seen in flashbacks to Ben's birth and childhood. Ben's mother was played by Carrie Preston, who in addition to being (like Gries) about the same age as Emerson, is also his real-life wife.
Personal Quotes
"I've had the blessing of doing classic plays on Broadway, which was one of my great dreams forever."
"It worries me a little bit the reach and power of TV. More people saw me in 'The Practice' than will ever see me in all the stage plays I ever do. Which is sort of humbling. Or troubling. Or both."
"You work four days, and then one line is left when you see it. Demoralizing." - about doing "Unfaithful"

Terry O'Quinn ( John Locke )
Biography for
Terry O'Quinn
Date of Birth
15 July 1952, Newberry, Michigan, USA
Birth Name
Terrance Quinn
Nickname
Mister Ten Thirteen
Height
6' 1½" (1.87 m)
Spouse
Laurie (1979 - present) 2 children
Trivia
Was once a bodyguard
Is good friends with 1013 Productions' Chris Carter, having appeared in most of his work: as a guest star in two episodes of "The X Files" (1993), a supporting role in The X Files (1998) and recurring roles on "Harsh Realm" (1999) and "Millennium" (1996/I).
He was raised in Michigan.
He elongated his last name to "O'Quinn" from his real name of "Quinn" to distinguish himself from another person named Terry Quinn already acting in films.
He has been balding since his early 20s and has appeared with a partially or entirely shaved head in most of his films.
Irish-American.
Has been experienced in percussion since high school.
Has had roles in both of J.J. Abrams' hit television series, "Alias" (2001) and "Lost" (2004).
Not many know that he is a talented guitarist and singer. He is a particularly big Neil Young fan and can apparently do a dead-on impression of him.
Although always friendly onset, he keeps private and mysterious habits apart from his younger "Lost" (2004) co-stars, who often get together for wild parties when not shooting. He keeps this enigmatic aura so they will regard him similarly to the way they regard his mysterious character Locke.
He is one of the few cast members of "Lost" (2004) who did not have to audition, because his former collaborator (from "Alias" (2001)) J.J. Abrams thought of O'Quinn for the part of Locke before the actor was even offered it.
Has 2 sons: Oliver (23 years) and Hunter (21 years)
Graduated from the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa.
He graduated from Central Michigan University.
Has appeared in episodes of two different television series with the same name. Both "Millennium" (1996/I) and "Lost" (2004) have had episodes featuring O'Quinn called "Walkabout".
In an episode of "Lost" (2004), his character Locke's parents were played by Kevin Tighe and Swoosie Kurtz, who are both only eight years O'Quinn's senior.
Has an Irish Terrier named 'Reggie'
Was the chief architect for the infamous "Locke" baseball field designed mostly in part for the Three Village Little League.
Actually learned how to properly throw and handle knives for his role on Lost.
His brother, Thomas Anthony Quinn, is also an actor, who acts and teaches theatre in central Illinois.
Personal Quotes
"It looks like a camera on a stick." - when asked what the "monster" from "Lost" (2004) looks like.
"I so rarely turned down a role, that I can't say I have any regrets in that regard. There were many roles that I would rather not have done, but having a home and family requires that we sometimes do things we would rather not. I have done a few roles that I've never watched, and if I happen to be flicking through channels and one pops up, I quickly move on. It's hard enough to sustain some self confidence without being reminded of things we'd rather not revisit but, in the end, it comes with the territory."
"I don't think I could play a character that I couldn't relate to somehow. I'm not unfamiliar with frustration, anger, shame, helplessness and a load of other emotions that make up our psycho-soup. I try to focus on that frustration, that sense of unfairness, and multiply it."
"I've told the producers that I miss the old John Locke. I wish he hadn't found those damn buttons sometimes. But these ups and downs reflect everybody's. You can't always choose the way things go. That's life."

Dominic Monaghan is best-known for his role in the movie adaptations of "Lord of the Rings". Before that, he became known in England for his role in the British television drama "Hetty Wainthropp Investigates" (1996). He was studying English Literature, Drama and Geography at Sixth Form College when he was offered the co-starring role in the series, which ran for four seasons. His other television credits include _"This Is Personal: The Hunt for the Yorkshire Ripper" (2000) (mini)_ and a leading role in _Monsignor Renard (1999)_, a series starring John Thaw.
On the stage, Monaghan has performed in the world premiere UK production of The Resurrectionists, Whale and Annie and Fanny from Bolton to Rome. Since watching Star Wars when he was six years old, Dominic has been consumed by films. His other obsessions include writing, music, fashion, playing/watching soccer and surfing. Utilizing his writing skills, he and LOTR co-star Billy Boyd are collaborating on a script.
Born and raised in Berlin, Monaghan and his family moved to England when he was twelve. In addition to speaking fluent German, he has a knack at impersonations and accents. He frequently returns to his hometown of Manchester, England.

In The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001), in the first scene with Gollum and Bilbo Baggins, Andy Serkis who plays Gollum wasn't on set for the shooting of that scene, so Dominic filled in for him. It was his only interaction on screen with Ian Holm (Bilbo).
Has a habit of writing on his hands, which he shares with Chris Martin of Coldplay, who happens to be one of his favorite bands.
Wrote and recorded the vocals for the tracks "Shadow" and "Maybe", and co-wrote and recorded "Half Fling" with Elijah Wood on Viggo Mortensen's album 'Pandemoniumfromamerica'.

His brother, Matthew, is one year older than him.
Previous jobs before acting included sorting mail at a Post Office, working in British Home Stores and working as a saute chef at a place called Quincey's in Didsbury, Manchester.

Shares a birthday with Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen

Ironically, Monaghan is the only one of the three to not have been born in Britain, rather having been born when his parents were working in Berlin, Germany.
Originally auditioned for the role of Sawyer on "Lost" before being asked to read for the role of Charlie.
Is a fan of Manchester United.
Personal Quotes
"I won't miss having to stand for two hours at 4:30 a.m. and having freezing cold glue applied to my feet. I won't miss two-hour drives to work or long, long, long, days sitting in my trailer waiting... waiting... waiting. I won't miss glue in my ears. But I would do it all again tomorrow."
"For Merry, losing Pippin is like losing his strength, the other side of his personality." - On Merry and Pippin's strong friendship in LotR.
"I hold Treebeard (In The Lord of the Rings) quite close to my heart. He takes things very slowly -- he knows that he'll live forever, so he can spend as much time as he wants mulling things over. I'm turned on by that because I don't think that way."
"I think deep down I've always wanted to be an actor. It was the one thing in school that I was undoubtedly enthusiastic about and good at. I coasted along being good at German, Geography, English and football but there wasn't anything that I could really call my thing, my niche."
"I'd love to play a gangster but I think people might say I looked a bit too young and cheeky to play a character who'd just blown someones head off!"
If I could uninvent anything, I would uninvent Hitler's mum, guns and broccoli.
I would like to be remembered as someone who could make people laugh. I would just like to be remembered really.
"I do quite like all the screaming crowds. I'm a big fan of the ladies, so to have them come to me without any real effort is amazing." [December 11, 2003]
[on his friendship with Billy Boyd, Elijah Wood, and Orlando Bloom:] "We all look after each other and support each other. Billy and I went down to Mexico to see Orlando Bloom when he was working on Troy (2004), we went to see Billy in a play, and I went to see Elijah when he was filming in New York. We all just look after each other, and hopefully that will continue to happen. We're a brotherhood, a fellowship." [December 11, 2003]
[re jokes about "where the Two Towers were really located," that is, rumors about gay affection among the hobbits:] "I think it's because we're all young, good-looking guys. We're kind of cheeky, and we're very physically tactile with one other. I love those guys. I don't (have) any qualms about it. They're my brothers, and I don't have any problem showing affection for men. I'm aware of my own sexuality enough to be free with people." [quoted in MX (Melbourne, Australia), December 16, 2003]
[after the last press junket for LOTR:] "I certainly grew up a lot on the movie. I arrived in New Zealand when I was 21 and now I'm 27. It's a defining point in any young man's life. I just did a massive overhaul of every facet of my personality and worked out who I was going to become." [December 18, 2003]
[on his character the hobbit Meriadoc Brandybuck:] "You don't really see war through the eyes of a hobbit too much in the movie, but Merry becomes a warrior. To see Merry ... covered in blood, sweat and tears, and living the terrible reality, was really traumatic." [December 14, 2003]
[about a game called "Tig" made up as a prank on Elijah Wood early in the shooting of "The Lord of the Rings":] "So we -- the three of us [Billy Boyd, Monaghan, and Sean Astin] -- were constantly getting it right. And every time Elijah tried a new way of tigging, we'd say, 'No, Elijah, you can't tig on a tog, you can't tag on a tig, you have to do an elephant impression if you're gonna tig Billy." (He adds that the prank went on for a year before the three 'fessed up.) [December 14, 2003]
[on hearing that Elijah Wood told a reporter that Monaghan, Wood, and Billy Boyd were considering sharing a home in New Zealand:] "He has all these grand plans. We did look at property in New Zealand. What we're going to do first, correct me if I'm wrong, is we're going to buy property in our respective territories. Billy is going to buy a beautiful little cottage in Edinburgh and Elijah is going to buy some in L.A." (Boyd corrected him, "Glasgow!") [December 12, 2003]
[when asked what he remembered most about filming "Lord of the Rings":] "We loved to surf over there. It's something that we'll take with us for a long time in the future. We plan our holidays around breaks and places to surf. When Billy [Billy Boyd] is in town I surf quite a lot, because it's hard to go surfing on your own. You can do it, but it's not as much fun." [December 12, 2003]
"I have been heartbroken once and it has affected all my relationships from there on. But now I look at it as a occupational hazard. If you are in the meat market at some point you are gonna get mad cows disease."
(On the late, great John Thaw) Not only did I admire the work John had done but also what he had achieved in his lifetime. As a man, he was incredibly nice and was totally giving as an actor. We had some stressful scenes together (in Monsignor Renard) including the one towards the end where my character breaks down in front of the priest and begs his forgiveness. John was nothing but supportive. At the time he was quite ill and yet didn't allow that to affect his performance. I was really upset when John died because I would've loved to have worked with him again and show my gratitude for how he helped me out as a young actor.
"I've always had itching feet. I like being on the move every couple of years." [Knoxville News-Sentinel, Sept 24, 2004]
[on being intrigued by the part of the tortured Charlie in the TV series "Lost" (2004):] "The frustration of Charlie's situation means he has a lot going on in his head. He lives in his head quite a lot. He's a drug addict, and drug addicts, by nature, are a selfish lot. It's a little like life imitating art. I'm not there now, but I can remember what it was like, being a little bit out there on a limb. He had it all, and now he's facing all this (stuff). [Dom's word was probably "shit."] Knoxville News-Sentinel, Sept 24, 2004
[Interviewer reports Monaghan sneaking away briefly from an ABC party and lighting up a cigarette, to talk of his recent past:] "It's hard to imagine that this was happening to someone who was in one of the biggest movies of the year before. But I would not give up that time for anything in the world. I remember writing in my journal that I was going through this growing experience because of it. I came back down to Earth with a bump." [Knoxville News-Sentinel, Sept 24, 2004]
[on the period after shooting The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003):] "My first year in Los Angeles was pretty hellish. I came over here after the high point of 'Lord of the Rings,' and I saw all my friends jumping around to jobs, and I had nothing." ... "My manager at the time was not doing anything for me, and I kind of got into a little bit of a funk. I was living in a [lousy] house in a [bad] part of town. I didn't have a car, and living in L.A. without a car, well, is difficult. I couldn't get a car because I didn't have an American bank account and could not get credit. It's harder to get credit than what you might think. So at that point, I was just hanging out at my place all day, playing 'Grand Theft Auto III.' I was waiting for the phone I didn't have to ring." [Knoxville News- Sentinel, Sept 24, 2004]
"Charlie was a 45-year-old rocker who had been spat out the other side - they were looking at someone like John Hannah. My pitch was, 'Wouldn't it be a more interesting character if he was someone who has barely scratched the surface of what he could be?' I had a lot of frustration and confusion about my career that I transplanted into Charlie." - on his character Charlie from "Lost"
